Volkswagen Polo For Rs 4.34-5.32 Lakh

The Volkswagen group launched the Polo and announced its price for the Indian market. “The New Volkswagen Polo’s 1.2 L petrol variant is priced at Rs 4.34-lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) while the 1.2 L diesel variant comes at Rs 5.32-lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi),” said Neeraj Garg, Volkswagen passenger car’s member of board and director.

The Indian market is like a key to additional volume growth and Volkswagen group does not want to leave out the premium hatchback segment that makes up for a big share. “We aim to tap the Indian market with our new brands,” said Garg. He added that India is a key market for the company’s overall strategic growth plans.

Bookings for the new Volkswagen Polo have started and deliveries are most likely to start from March 8 for the petrol variant and May for the diesel variant. To bring down the cost of the car Volkswagen has significantly localised the Polo.

“The premium hatchback Polo is now 50 per cent localised and we will enhance localisation as soon as possible,” Garg said. The company has extensive plans for their new product and have pumped in Rs 3,800-crore for the plant at Chakana near Pune where the car will be produced and later distributed over a network of 42 dealers in 32 cities pan-India. The plant’s annual capacity is 1,10,000 cars per year.
