Lamborghini Estoque: Will it look like this?

Lamborghini Estoque

We found a nice rendered preview of the upcoming Lamborghini Estoque. Have a look!

Every red-blooded car fan knows that wagons are the business, serving drivers and fashionistas far better than SUVs can. And after years of obscurity, the appeal has reemerged for blue-blooded car fans as well. Ferrari’s Geneva debut of the shooting-brake FF ups the ante for the prancing horse’s primary antagonist and raises the question, “Why not make the four-door Lamborghini Estoque a five door?” In the what-if rendering above, our artist takes that idea and runs with it, melding the Italianate RX-8ness of the Estoque with a dash of its four-place, hyperfastback forebear, the Espada. Even a knee-breaking Vegas bookie wouldn’t give you odds on this thing entering production in Sant’Agata Bolognese, but that’s nothing the aftermarket can’t fix—if the Estoque sedan actually comes to fruition.

Audi R8 GT, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911 Turbo: Angels and demons

Audi R8 GT, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911 Turbo

Great comparison here of the Audi R8 GT, the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Porsche 911 Turbo. A must read!

It was only a question of time, really. Eventually the four rings from Ingolstadt and the bull from Sant’Agata would go head-to-head with one another. Because even if the Audi R8 has kept a respectful distance in the marketplace to the Lamborghini Gallardo from which it’s derived, humble pie is obviously no longer on the menu in the office canteen at Audi HQ.

At first the Audi R8 seemed entirely different, simply a stretched, German-size version of the Gallardo with a luxury kind of spin. After all, Audi is the world’s fastest-growing luxury brand right now, while Lamborghini is exclusive and extreme, catering to a very select audience that wouldn’t be caught dead in an Audi.

But when you see the 2011 Audi R8 GT in real life for the first time, you wonder what it is. Is it a celebration of Audi’s nine victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans? Or is it evidence of a new corporate seriousness about the sports car business, not only a head-to-head confrontation with an exotic as serious as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera but also a warning shot across the bows of the Porsche 911 Turbo?

Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Bicolore: Coming to the US!

Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Bicolore

This awesome looking Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Bicolore will come to the US. Great!

The two-tone Gallardo Bicolore will be offered only with all-wheel drive as an LP560-4 in other markets, but the version that makes it to us will drive just the rear wheels—à la Gallardo Valentino Balboni—and be dubbed LP550-2. (Yes, that means our cars will make 10 fewer horsepower.)

Aside from the welcome fact that it means more rear-wheel-drive Gallardos coming to our shores beyond the sold-out Balbonis, this special edition is basically an appearance package. But what an appearance it is. The blacked-out greenhouse—which starts at the base of the windshield and extends to the area between the taillights—lends a very tailored look to an already svelte-seeming vehicle. It accentuates the flowing line from front fender to rear haunch, quite possibly making it the best-looking Gallardo yet. Gloss black is applied to the front splitter, air intakes, and rear diffuser. The normally optional glass engine cover is standard here, providing an unobstructed view of the 542-hp V-10 that powers the rear wheels.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4: Behind the scenes video!

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

Nice behind the scenes video here of the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and a video shoot in the California desert. Enjoy!

The new Lamborghini Aventador looked pretty striking sitting still upon its debut at the Geneva Motor Show this year, but a Raging Bull like this one shouldn’t be sitting still. It needs to be run, and run hard.

Fortunately, our friends had the opportunity to accompany the new Lambo on a video shoot in the Californian desert to let it stretch its legs and get it good and covered in silt

Lamborghini Countach QV: 1,200-mile road trip video

Lamborghini Countach QV

Awesome 1,200-mile road trip video here with the Lamborghini Countach QV. Enjoy!

This Italian Stallion from the 1970s and 1980s is perhaps one of the most iconic supercars of all time, and having the chance to drive one these days is very, very rare.

Not so for EVO magazine’s Harry Metcalfe. Recently, he was given the task of driving his Countach QV 1,200 miles from the French Riviera back to the United Kingdom. How does the classic supercar handle on such a long drive?

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4: New teaser shows its monocoque nakedness

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

A new teaser for the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 shows the new monocoque chassis.

The Murcielago’s successor will get a carbon fibre monocoque ‘single-shell’, much as you find on F1 cars. It weighs just 147.5kg, and offers, claims Lamborghini, superior safety and high torsional rigidity.

There is a complicated procedure to produce this carbon-fibre tub, involving resin transfer moulding, pre-injecting carbon fibre mats with liquid resin, braiding and inserting epoxy foam components. Because of its complexity, the tub is built in-house, in Lambo’s special kitchen.

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4: New photos with just bare camouflage!

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

We found some brand new spy shots of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 with just some bare camouflage. Make sure to watch!

The new Lamborghini’s gorgeous bodywork takes many of its cues from the Sesto Elemento concept that debuted at the Paris Motor Show last year. Underneath the sexy exterior is the automaker’s new V12 heart of gold, and we should see the finished product in the flesh at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2: New entry model will be rear-wheel drive!

Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2

Great news for all US-based Lamborghini fans: Lamborghini will be offering a new entry-level Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 with rear-wheel drive for $193,895.

Lamborghini has confirmed to us that the U.S. Gallardo lineup is growing. In addition to the LP550-2 Bicolore we told you about earlier in the week, Lambo is now offering standard, single-color, rear-wheel-drive LP550-2 coupes, with a choice of either the six-speed manual or e-gear transmission.

2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino BalboniLast year’s limited-edition LP550-2 Valentino Balboni sold out quickly, and the Bicolore is only available with the automatic e-gear transmission and in five different color combos, so the new LP550-2 model will complement the LP560-4 coupe and become the brand’s price leader. This new “base” Gallardo, with a stick and rear drive, is priced at $193,895, while the LP550-2 with e-gear is $202,995.
